DOH: SUBMIT REQUIRMENTS OR FORFEIT HAZARD PAY?

Is this another case of government red tape or Duque’s incompetence? The government barred our nurses and health workers from leaving the country as we face the pandemic for fear none will stay to help us through it but it cannot even release their much deserved pay on time. How sad and cruel. We owe our health workers especially our front liners our lives.

DOH: submit requirements or forfeit hazard pay

Hospitals and health workers were informed on Monday Dec. 7 that they must submit their requirements to the DOH by Wednesday Dec. 9 to be eligible for hazard pay. They were informed through a power point presentation dated Dec. 4.

Under Bayanihan 2, health workers directly working on Covid patients will receive additional benefits, an active hazard duty pay of P3,000 per month and a special risk allowance of P5,000 per month from Sept. 15 to Dec. 19, 2020. The DBM has released the budget for it last Oct. 27.

The DOH has since extended the deadline for submission to Dec. 11, 5pm.

Hazard pay of some 16,764 health workers has also yet to be released, five months after the law that granted it expired.

On November 19, Roque urged the DOH to release the hazard pays of these workers. They have not received the pay granted under Bayanihan 1, which expired last June. Many have since clamored for its release and called for an investigation on its delay.
