On Jane Austen’s book, “Emma” she keyed a memorable quote in Volume 1, Chapter 9.
“One half of the world cannot understand the pleasures of the other.”
There is a certain loneliness and exclusivity in that. This realization would settle in you either melancholy in loneliness in knowing you cannot understand the pleasures of the others. Or you would feel joy and exclusivity knowing that others wouldn’t possess the same joy you have.
